Command Sergeant Major Donald L. Rose JR is a native of Montana. He entered the Army on Jan. 22, 1985 and attended Basic Training at Fort McClellan, Ala. and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Rucker, Ala., where he graduated as a 67V, Observation Helicopter Repairman. His past assignments consists of, HHC 222nd Avn Co 172nd INF Brigade and C Company 4/123rd Avn at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. In Germany he was with C Company 3/3 Avn and HHC 6th Brigade at Giebelstadt. He served with both Echo Troop and HHT 3/4 Cavalry in Schweinfurt, Germany. His assignments to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment include positions as the F Company 1/160th AH/MH-6 section sergeant, technical inspector for the AH/MH-6 and MH-60A/L/K, maintenance platoon sergeant for the AH/MH-6 and MH-60A/L/K maintenance sections. He served as the first sergeant for A Company 1/160th SOAR and HHC 160th SOAR (OEF 2001, OIF 2003 and 2004) Fort Campbell, Ky. After graduation of the Sergeants Major Academy he served as the CSM at Fort Hood Texas, for the 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment re-designated 4th Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, 4th ID (OIF 05-06) and 2nd Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, 4th I.D (OIF 08-09), 4th Combat Aviation Brigade CSM and the senior enlisted advisor for the deputy commander Regional Command-North in northern Afghanistan (OEF 10-11), he then served with 1AD Combat Aviation Brigade CSM at Fort Bliss Texas. He then moved on to serve as the sergeant major for the Combined Arms Center – Training in Fort Leavenworth, Kan. Command Sergeant Major Rose assumed duties as the First Army Division East Command Sergeant Major on April 3, 2014.

Command Sergeant Major Rose is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 55, the Sergeants Major Legal Course, the Sergeant Major Force Management Course, First Sergeant Course; Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Airborne school, Air Assault School, Army Safety Course, Aviation Life Support Equipment Course, Accident Investigation Course, Army SERE school, SSTP school, NBC school, Close Quarter Combat Instructor Course, Toxic Agent Training Course, Cargo Preparation and Airlift Load planners Course, Air Movement Hazmat Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, McDonnell Douglas 369FF Maintenance and Transmission Overhaul Courses, Allison Turbine and Airwork schools, OSHA Training Instructor Course, U.S. Department of Transportation Accident Investigation Course, Environmental Qualification Officer Course. Command Sergeant Major Rose earned his A&P license and Associates Degree through North Central Institute and is working on his bachelor’s degree.
