Brigadier General Russell A. Crane serves as the Division East deputy commanding general for operations.

Brig. Gen. Crane was commissioned as an infantry officer from the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1987.

Brig. Gen. Crane graduated from Marshall University with a bachelor of arts in criminal justice. He has also earned a master of science in strategic leadership from Mountain State University and a master of strategic studies from the United States Army War College.

He has served in a variety of leadership positions, most with Special Forces and Special Operations units, and was most recently the Land Component Commander for the West Virginia Army National Guard.
