Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Hossfeld was commissioned as an infantry officer following his graduation from Washington State University in 1996. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Infantry Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

LTC Hossfeld’s past assignments include rifle platoon leader, Company Executive Officer and mortar platoon leader while assigned to 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Company Commander, Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia; Company Commander, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment (Striker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington; battalion and brigade Operations Officer, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Chief of Current Operations, 82nd Airborne Division; Deputy Operations Officer XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Battalion Commander, 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. LTC Hossfeld’s most recent assignment was as the Task Force 1 Senior OC/T at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

He has deployed to combat once to Iraq and three times to Afghanistan.His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (4th award), Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (5th award), Army Commendation Medal (5th award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Valorous Unit Award (2nd award), Meritorious Unit Award (3rd award), Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Ranger Tab.
