Always great having our other Deputy Commanding General and Assistant

Gen. Walt Wojdakowski and his wife Candy; thank you for coming.
And thanks to the great FORSCOM band
.they always add that special
touch to our events and let me add; stole the show up at Fort A.P. Hill
for our Scout Jamboree last month.
Dont the new flags look good? Thanks to COL Round, Mr. Pulliam,
and the NSJ-TF for providing them for our ceremonies.
Let me also take a minute to welcome our new Chief of Staff. Billy Wells
took over the reigns of the First Army Staff Monday after having served
as our 4th Brigade commander, 87th Division at Ft. Stewart for the last
three years. He is the perfect man to direct this staff through the course
of the next year. Again Billy, welcome and thanks for taking on this key
job.
It is a personal and professional pleasure for me to welcome a great
soldier to First U.S. Army. Our leadership, in its wisdom, has selected
one of the Armys premier trainers to serve with us.
Our mission is, first and foremost, to ensure the readiness of our citizen
soldiers in the event they are needed.
Each year, we see more evidence that the world continues to remain unstable.
And, each year, we see the changing nature of worldwide threats, which
prompts the Army to adjust how it does business.
Tom Miller will direct the training efforts of First Army to help us
work toward our goals of strengthening our defense and developing necessary
readiness for meeting worldwide contingencies.
A career soldier who has served at all echelons of command and staff,
he comes to us from the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum where he was
the Assistant Division Commander for the past year
a very dynamic
job for one of our nations premier commands.
Now, hes returned to the south where he began his military career.
Commissioned at the University of Southern Mississippi in Infantry.
He attended Infantry Officer basic and advanced courses at Fort Benning.
Earned a masters degree from Troy State University; and graduated from
the Army Command and General Staff College and the Army War College.

Tom Miller brings great expertise and operational experience to his job
here at First Army. He knows the nuts and bolts of training
and knows RIGHT when he sees it.
He has passed through all the gates and his records show that he knows
soldiering and soldiers.
I know Tom looks forward to working with our Guard and Reserve commanders
in 27-states, three territories, and the District of Columbia.
I am sure I speak for all here this morning when I welcome you, Mary,
Bryan and Kaitlyn to our First Army family. We are blessed to have you
here with us.
Again, thanks to all of you for joining us out here this morning for
this welcome ceremony. May God bless each of you, The United States Army,
