Command Sergeant Major Timothy V. Speichert was born and raised in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and enlisted as an Infantryman in the United States Army in May, 1998. He conducted One Unit Station Training at Fort Benning, Georgia.
During his 24 years of service, CSM Speichert has held numerous leadership positions which include: Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, Battalion Operations Sergeant Major, and Battalion Command Sergeant Major.
His previous assignments include: 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea; 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, Fort Drum, New York; 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; 5th Ranger Training Battalion, Dahlonega, Georgia; 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington; and 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado. He most recently served as the Garrison Command Sergeant Major of Fort Riley, Kansas.
CSM Speichert has completed all professional military education to include graduating in Class 66 of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, U.S. Army Ranger School, Army Basic Instructor Course, Tactical Certification Course, Senior Tactical Instructor Course, Advanced Land Navigation Course, Jungle Operations Training Course, and Master Resilience Training Course. He also holds an Associate’s degree in Business and Administrative Management from Excelsior College.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal w/ Valor device (3 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (1 SLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 SLC), Good Conduct Medal – eighth award, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one bronze star, Iraqi Campaign Medal with three bronze stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 5, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 7, NATO Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, and a Brazilian and German Parachutist Badge. CSM Speichert has been inducted into the Order of Saint Maurice.
