Col. Charles D. Ausman

120th Infantry Commander

COL Charles D. Ausman received his commission from the United States Military Academy in 2003. After completing the Transportation Officer Basic course at Fort Eustis, he was assigned to 633rd Division Support Team Commander. After deploying with 1st Armored Division, he was reassigned to 635th Movement Regulating Detachment as the XO. He then deployed with 71st
Corps Support Battalion to Q-West supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon returning, he was reassigned to 16th Sustainment Brigade serving as the STB S3.                                                  

After 18 months as the S3, COL Ausman took command of Logistics Task Force Alpha on the Turkish-Iraqi border for a 15th month deployment. Upon returning from Iraq, he went to Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course (CLC3) followed directly by Intermediate Level Education at Fort Leavenworth.  After ILE, COL Ausman was assigned as a Unit Integrator at Rock Island Arsenal in Army Sustainment Command. LTC Ausman was then selected at the 1st Infantry Division, Division Transportation Officer at Fort Riley.

COL Ausman was then assigned as XO of 299th Brigade Support Battalion. After completing Key and Developmental time at Fort Riley, COL Ausman was reassigned to Yongsan Korea serving in the J37 as the Key Resolve/Foal Eagle Branch Chief in United States Forces Korea. Following his assignment at USFK, COL Ausman was reassigned as an instructor in the Department of
Logistics and Resource Operations (DLRO) at Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. Just prior to taking command of the Combined Arms Center STB commander, COL Ausman served as the U4 for the UN Mission in Bamako, Mali.  After battalion command COL Ausman served with NATO and was assigned to Joint Force Command- Brunssum in the Netherlands. His most recent assignment was in the 13th Armored Corps Sustainment Command as the G3 and SPO, deployed to Kuwait.     
 
COL Ausman’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1-OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2-OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3-OLC), and the Army Achievement Medal. COL Ausman’s military and civilian schooling include the Transportation Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course, ILE, Joint and Combined Warfighting School, and the
Army War College. COL Ausman is married to Jessi, and they have four spirited, rambunctious sons.
