Maj. Gen. Eric Riley

Deputy Commanding General - Operations

Major General Eric J. Riley is originally from San Jose, CA and graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA with a degree in Ecology and Systematic Biology, with an emphasis in Fisheries and Wildlife. He received his commission from ROTC in 1993 as an Infantry Officer. He is currently serving on the Army Staff as the Deputy Director of Operations, Readiness, and Mobilizations in the G3/5/7.

Over his 30 years of service, MG Riley has served in numerous command and staff assignments in the infantry and has deployed multiple times to the Middle East and Europe, serving in Egypt, Iraq, Kosovo, and Poland. Some of his notable assignments include Battalion and Brigade Command in the 41st IBCT, Commander of the Oregon Joint Operations Command, Deputy Commanding General, 10th Mountain Division, and Commander of the Oregon Army National Guard Land Component Command.

MG Riley earned a master’s degree from the United States Army War College in Strategic Studies and received his Dual Status Command Certification from USNORTHCOM.
