CSM Frank Batts Jr.

4th Cavalry Brigade CSM

CSM Frank E Batts, Jr. was born in Tampa, Florida. He joined the Army in January of 2002 and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo to be a Combat Engineer.
His previous assignments include Battalion Command Sergeant Major for 54th BEB of 173rd ABN, Italy; Plans Sergeant Major for 20th Engineer Brigade Fort Bragg, NC, Credentialing Program Manager for the Engineer Regiment, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence, Fort Leonard Wood, MO; First Sergeant, Engineer Basic Officer Leader Course Company, 554th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO; First Sergeant, A Company Heavy Equipment Advance Individual Training, 554th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Sapper Leader Course Instructor, 35th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Operation Sergeant, A Company, 307th Engineer Battalion, Fort Bragg, NC; Platoon Sergeant, A Company, 307th Engineer Battalion, Fort Bragg, NC; Brigade Environmental Compliance Officer, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Bragg, NC; Squad Leader, A Company, 307th Engineer Battalion, Fort Bragg, NC; Team Leader, A Company, 84th Engineer Battalion (Construction); Combat Engineer, A Company, 307th Engineer Battalion, Fort Bragg, NC. He has deployed to support operations in Afghanistan once and on four separate occasions to Iraq.

CSM Batts is a graduate of the Sergeant Major Academy, Class 71. Has a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from University of Charleston. Currently, he is working towards his Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership and Project Management Professional (PMP). His previous military education includes the Sapper Leader Course, Ranger School, Jumpmaster Course, Master Breacher Course, SHARP, Unit Prevention Leader, Combat Life Saver, Environmental Compliance Officer Certification, Senior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Basic Leader Course, Combative level 1 and 2, and U.S Airborne School. CSM Batts’ military award and decorations include Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Valorous Unit Award, Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (6th award), Nation Defense Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal (4 CS), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 6), Combat Action Badge, Master rated Jumpmaster, and Foreign Wings from Germany and Netherlands, Driver and Mechanic Badge Sapper and Ranger Tab. CSM Batts and his teammate were the recipients of 2012 Best Sapper Competition winner and recipients of the Army Engineer Association Steel Order of the De Flurry Medal. Additionally, he became a recipient of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) Distinguished Member of the Regiment.
