Maj. Gen. Timothy Brennan

Deputy Commanding General (Support)

Major General Timothy Brennan is the Deputy Commanding General - Support for First Army, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois. A native of Philadelphia, he served as an Infantry Officer before transferring to the Civil Affairs Branch in 2003. His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Civil Affairs Qualification Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College. He has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Temple University, a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Pennsylvania State University.
 
He previously served as Deputy Director Operations and Cyber (J3), United States Africa Command; Commander, 353d Civil Affairs Command; Deputy Commanding General - Support, 99th Readiness Division; Chief of Staff, 80th Training Command; Assistant Chief of Staff G3, 353d Civil Affairs Command (Airborne); Civil Affairs Planning Team, 353d Civil Affairs Command (Airborne); Commander, 404th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne); Division Resource Manager G8, Atlantic Division, 75th Training Command; Battalion S3 (Operations), 418th Civil Affairs Battalion; Scenario Development Team Chief, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Brigade, 75th Division; Operations Officer, Civil Affairs Planning Team-Alpha, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 304th Civil Affairs Brigade; and Company Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 304th Civil Affairs Brigade.
 
His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster and two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), the Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and the Ranger Tab.
