1st Armored Division Best Warrior Competition 2020

Soldiers assigned to subordinate units across the 1st Armored Division competed for the title of Division Best Soldier Warrior and Best Noncommissioned Officer Warrior May 15, 2020. Soldiers began the grueling 8-hour competition at 4 A.M. with a 12-mile road march while wearing Army uniform and 25-pound ruck sack, completed in less than three hours. Next, competitors completed the Army Combat Fitness Test, consisting of deadlift, power throw, hand-release push-up, sprint-drag-carry course, and leg tuck events, culminating in a 2-mile run for time. Finally, Soldiers vying to become Old Ironsides' Best Warrior conducted an obstacle course of over 30 separate obstacles, with climbing ropes and cargo nets, log maneuvering, low and bear crawls, and sprints. The competition was won by Staff Sgt. James Ferrone, a cavalry scout assigned to Troop B, 2nd Squadron, 13th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team and native of Naperville, Illinois, and Spc. Gage Paraschos, a cavalry scout assigned to Troop C, 2-13 CAV whose hometown is Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania, after they displayed their excellence in skills, knowledge and physical fitness.
