12th Marine Littoral Regiment celebrated its one-year anniversary at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 15, 2024. The MLR redesignated on Nov. 15, 2023. The MLR is organized, trained, and equipped to support sea control and sea denial operations within actively contested maritime spaces as part of a modernized force integrated with the U.S. Navy, other elements of the Joint Force, and allied and partnered forces. 12th MLR's forward presence in the first island chain contributes to integrated deterrence efforts and ensures they are postured to quickly respond to a range of crises or contingencies.
