160105-N-N0701-0001 NORFOLK (Jan. 5, 2016) A U.S. Fleet Forces Command-sponsored video production demonstrates how sea turtle monitoring helps the U.S. Navy maintain environmental compliance for military readiness activities, and highlights research designed to help the Navy better understand and mitigate the potential effects of nearshore training exercises on sea turtles. The “Stewards of the Sea: Defending Freedom, Protecting the Environment” outreach program is designed to showcase the Navy’s efforts to monitor and mitigate the potential environmental effects of activities without jeopardizing the safety of our Sailors or impacting military readiness.
